England Match Shirts

Guestbook

This is a Gareth Southgate shirt, which came to us directly from Gareth and he has signed it accordingly. After dicussion with the former England kit man, who went to the '98 Finals it is believed to have been a one of the few replica shirts that got enbroidered by Umbro, into the match kit and taken to the tournament. So although it has come direct from the player, it is not the shirt Gareth would have had as an unused substitute, in England's final Group G game, the 2-0 victory against Columbia in Lens on 26th June.

It is worth noting that no official replica's of this style, with the World Cup Finals France 1998 embroidery, were actually produced. There is one obvious structural difference between the players shirts and any of the replica shirts with added embroidery in this style. But only those player's replica's that were embroidered in error and taken to the tournament exist and cast iron provenance, as this one has, is needed to confirm these "error" shirts to be genuine shirts prepared for a player.
